U Sexy Mutha U ft. Zhana Roiya (Parts 1-3)

Zhana Roiya Gets Dirty on the Dancefloor with
“U Sexy Mutha U”, The Follow-Up to Her Billboard #1

Zhana Roiya returns to the dance floor with “U Sexy Mutha U,” the follow-up to last summer’s “Lick Me Up,” her #1 Billboard smash produced by Tony Moran and Dani Toro. Written and produced by Barry Huffine and Stevie F, with additional keyboards by Kris Nicholson, “U Sexy Mutha U” is a high energy retro pop record infused with gospel house. “I drew inspiration from KC and the Sunshine band for the track,” explains Roiya. “I’ve always loved how they made songs that made ya stop what you were doing with a hypnotic and infectious hook. I wanted to capture that essence in the song.” “U Sexy Mutha U” by Barry Huffine & Stevie F Ft. Zhana Roiya will be available on iTunes and all music streaming services on February 9th, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

“‘U Sexy Mutha U’ continues our quest to release richer, well-written and more complex tracks that are not simply flash in the pans but have the ability to stick around for years,” says Matt Consola of Swishcraft Music, the label releasing the single.

At the first listen, the mainstream radio potential for “U Sexy Mutha U” is obvious. The first collaboration between producer/songwriter/remixer DJ Barry Huffine (Maroon 5, Kat Graham, The Housekeeperz) and songwriter/producer Stevie F – who, along with former collaborator Shep Pettibone, had his hand in the writing, production and remixing of some of the biggest early dance and radio hits for Madonna, Labelle, Real McCoy, and other leading artists — is catchy and has an overall feel-good vibe. Stevie F’s explosive lyrics with Barry Huffine’s finely tuned production combine to give the song a depth that Zhana is able to sink her teeth into.

“We wanted to create a song that was catchy and that anyone could relate to,” explains Stevie. “What’s more universal than desire? There’s a time in everyone’s life where their eye catches someone with a crazy sex appeal that really revs up their motor; someone they can’t stop thinking about who they want to be with.”

“I had been wanting to work with Zhana on a project for years” adds Huffine. “Everyone in the Dance Music scene knows how she’s able to deliver a lead vocal that’s on point with sweet harmonies that are simply amazing”. Consola agrees. “If club fans had any idea how many massive club hits Zhana’s been on through 90’s and 2000’s, under various names, it would blow them away.”

Zhana Roiya’s soaring vocals turn “U Sexy Mutha U” into an anthem that club fans will want to sing at the top of their lungs, simply because it feels good to do so. The song stirs a wide array of emotions from silliness to sexiness. It is hopeful yet, at the same time, takes no prisoners.

It’s that same complexity that allows the song to be remixed into various genres so a lot of dance floors can enjoy the track.

According to Consola, “Remixing is often the hardest part of putting out a dance single. All too often, labels release a slew of remixes in various genres just to try to force their way to every different type of dance floor, from Deep House to Tech House, EDM, Nu-Disco, and Circuit. While that’s all part of trying to make a dance hit, few songs lend themselves to so many genres.”

Luckily, ‘U Sexy Mutha U’ does, and his label is rolling out some exciting remix interpretations from remixers including 17-time Billboard Dance #1 remixers Division 4 and Matt Consola (Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Gwen Stefani), 15-time Billboard Dance #1 remixers Dirty Disco (David Bowie, Smash Mouth, Clean Bandit), Bearlin Records super producer Jose Spinnin Cortes (Offer Nissim, Amuka, Suzanne Palmer), London-based Circuit mega producer and label owner GSP, and former Paisley Park/Prince engineer turned producer Larry Peace. There are also versions by Nu Disco award winner Lucius Lowe, Spain’s Italo-Iberican pioneer OBTUS (aka Julián Guarque) as well as DJ/ remixers Max Grandon, Guy DeGiacinto and the team of Alberto Ponzo & Fabio Campos.

Each mix offers an interpretation that takes the original into new and exciting territories.

“Clubs need a song like ‘U Sexy Mutha U’ right now because global current affairs are so dark and bleak,” continues Consola. “All this division is taking a toll. We need uplifting music we can escape into. Like the great Inaya Day says, sometimes you need to ‘Take Your Problems to The Dance Floor,’” he laughs.

“Believe it or not, I first heard the hook of ‘U Sexy Mutha U’ in a dream,” reveals Roiya. “As soon as I woke up, I recorded it on my phone and waited for the opportunity when I could lay down the track in a studio. I know in my heart that ‘U Sexy Mutha U’ will be a song to define the year ahead.”

Dreamer (Part 1)

Produced by Cajjmere Wray

It’s been said that LULA needs no introduction to the world of the underground. And that’s true since for two decades she’s helped define and reshape it from the inside out. From the moment she crawled into the speakers at the legendary Twilo and began to entrance us with her vocals on the Johnny Vicious’ Mushroom Mix of the chart-topping Danny Tenaglia / Nylx hit “Goosebumps,” the underground has never been the same. What followed was a string of #1 club hits for iconic labels like Twisted America, Hooj Choons, Kaos, Star 69 and Kult Records. Teaming up with many of the undergrounds biggest producers from Danny Tenaglia, Rui da Silva, Johnny Vicious, Creamer & K, to her lifelong friend, the legendary Peter Rauhofer, Lula’s unique brand of “freestyling poetry” warped our dance floors and melted our speakers. Her debut album “The Underground Sounds of Portugal & Me” on Kult Records spawned multiple chart-topping hits including “Twilo,” “Fire & Burn,” and “There is Only One” with Alan T.

After some time away from our hearts and our dance floors, LULA returns in 2018 with “Dreamer.” Teaming up with world-renown DJ & producer Cajjmere Wray, another close friend and production partner of the late Peter Rauhofer, LULA & Wray release the progressive house anthem in celebration of Rauhofer, who passed 5 years ago this May. “Dreamer” will be released on Swishcraft Music in two parts with a full set of remixes to follow the January 26th, 2018 release date.

Everybody Knows My Name (Parts 1 & 2)

A true musical chameleon, this big room producer, best known for his festival worthy releases that have topped the dance charts alongside his contemporaries like David Guetta, Tiesto, Armin Van Buren, Paul Van Dyk, Carl Cox, Bob Sinclair, Hardwell and Armand Van Helden, all of whom he toured with, began to show his deeper and darker side with his previous Tech House meets Dark Tribal hit “Cores” on Swishcraft Music. Now Keller is back with an even deeper, indie house gem called “Everybody Knows My Name.” This Indie House / Nu Disco / Tech House hybrid, with it’s swirling synths riffs, rhythm guitars and infectious earworm looping vocal are just as much at home on giant dance floors and it is gracing Ibiza style Ministry of Sound compilations. Presented in two parts, Remix EP #1 is jam-packed with sax rich Nu Disco interpretations from Lucius Lowe, deep Chicago House rhythms by Karsten Sollors, and an earth-shaking soulful electro bass heavy house mix by Germany’s Infamous Boy. Remix EP #2 finds Australia’s Chart Noir presenting a disco rhythm guitar heavy Indie House meets Nu Disco gem. Denver’s Craig C, hot on the heels of his “I Need A Man” hit presents his signature hard house Master Blaster sound, while Brazilian Progressive House / Circuit DJ & producer presents big room circuit and festival DJ’s with an addictive, Brazilian tribal infused scorcher.

Scream Her Name

REMIXES BY: DIRTY DISCO • DIVISION 4 & MATT CONSOLA • MAX GRANDON • PAULO AGULHARI • HAUZ of OZ • DJ BLACKLOW • PUMPKIN SPICE

Living in Ibiza, Spain, Zonatto’s DJ sets are heavily influenced by the current Nu-disco, Deep House, and House scenes that thrive around him, while his partner, Vino Gomiero, soaks up the same house scenes but with an essence that permeates the sounds and rhythms of his hometown of São Paulo. Together, with the help of one of the hardest working and most in-demand singers in dance music, Dessy Slavova, they’ve created ‘Scream Her Name’ a hybrid house track that is two parts modern Tech House and Indie House, but with an almost subconscious throwback to the early days of the late 70’s and early 80’s Human League New Wave classics like “The Things That Dreams Are Made Of” and “Love Action.”

Seven additional remixes take this infectious earworm into the genres of Deep House, Tech House, Nu Disco, Big Room Circuit, Funky House and Late Nite Anthem.

A Love Bizarre (Part Two)

REMIXES BY LARRY PEACE • DIRTY DISCO • FABIO CAMPOS & ALBERTO PONZO • HANDBAG HOUSE • MAX GRANDON

San Francisco-based house DJ Russ Rich was born and raised in Minnesota and has been a life-long Prince fan, even working at Paisley Park Studios for two years in the mid-90s. “I grew up listening to his music. He was a hero in Minnesota, and working at Paisley Park was a dream come true. I was fortunate enough to see him countless times in concert, and during my time at Paisley, would occasionally run into him in the hallways and studio. When Prince died, I knew I wanted to do a project that would honor his music. ‘A Love Bizarre,’ is my love letter to Prince – a thank you for a lifetime of amazing music.”

“A Love Bizarre,” in its original version, is a duet sung by Sheila E and Prince. Once Rich decided on “A Love Bizarre,” he knew immediately which vocalist he wanted to work with on the track. Rich approached Debby Holiday about the project. Holiday, also a huge Prince fan, performed the song perfectly, delivering not only the lead “Sheila” vocal but also turning in a stunning “Prince” vocal line. Rich then approached two of his favorite sound engineers – Andy Allder to work with on a late-night “Afterhours” mix, and Leo Frappier, to produce a Peak-time main room club mix. Both mixes are featured on the first EP along with a Jackin’ House remix by the legendary house producer Jerry Ropero. Below are the remixes of the much-anticipated Part 2.

Let Me See You Dance (Clap Your Hands)

Taking their name from the famed Parisienne cabaret, Chat Noir is the cosmic intersection of two dance music auteurs, Australia’s Erik Veland (aka GenErik) and Mitch Medcalf (aka Galleon) who together prove once again that the sum is greater than the parts. The result is a nu-disco explosion with a decidedly underground Euro essence.

Complimenting the original mix are five unique interpretations ranging from the sax-heavy and retro disco baseline driven Lucius Lowe Remix, a funk-fueled Glam house remix by The Funky Truckerz, two big room tribal-house / circuit remix by Mexico’s Alan Capetillo. One an extra tribal drum-heavy remix. A classic UK Handbag House remix by Iain Macleod’s Handbag House pumps up the energy, while an interstellar disco mix by Galleon’s other production handle with teammate Anthonne Boogie Shepherd, BoogieKnights, kick the single into to outer space. Check out the separate Radio Edits EP for radio edits of your favorite mixes.
