DISCO BITCH

Rafael Mesa spent years touring the circuit of the late ’80s and early 2000s as on one of LA’s hottest quadruple threats –  Producer, Artist, Store Owner, and Touring DJ. The Co-Owner of LA’s most prestigious DJ Dance store Prime Cuts Records in Hollywood from 1987 – 2002, Mesa stepped away to start LA indie label Fresh Music LA which quickly landed 4 releases on the Billboard Dance Top 10 including their first Billboard Dance #1 ‘Control Yourself’ by Erin Hamilton. As a Label Producer and major label Remix Producer, Mesa’s sound was thick, throbbing, and infectious peak hour house music that still had an essence of mainstream house.

Heralding a new chapter for Mesa as he prepares to drop several new releases in 2019,  “Disco Bitch” is sure to make an impact in the closing summer months. Showcasing his new style, a peak hour production style complete with Disco influences, lush textures with energetic overtones and a thumping baseline, ‘Disco Bitch” is sure to be the first of several new hits for Mesa.

If Mesa’s already disco-tinged original is not disco enough, Solar City presents a Groove Mix that turns the funk up to 11 complete with swirling strings, lush synths,  and did someone say, “I gotta have more cowbell?“  But if Big Room Progressive Tribal is more your scene, look no future than the floor quaking Bruno Knauer Remix. Heavy circuit tribal rhythms, stabbing synths, and throbbing baselines, the Bruno Knauer Remix will certainly raise the roof of any big room event.

NOT DISCO!

Following on the heels of his club hit “I Want A Man” featuring Kalia Medeiros, Brett Oosterhaus drops a monstrous Big Room scorcher aptly named Not Disco! With its thunderous big room percussion, middle eastern-influenced chord progressions and just a sprinkling of sampled vocals, “Not Disco!” pulls the listener into a euphoric trance of pulsating rhythms.  This is one to blow the roof off!

PROUD (Parts 1, 2, 3 & Single)

In May of 2000, former M-People lead singer Heather Small released the now-iconic single “Proud” that quickly solidified itself as the quintessential Pride Anthem of a new generation, as well as an inspirational theme for organizations and causes around the globe. Co-written and produced by Peter-John Vettese, the “Proud” album version peaked at #16 in her native UK charts selling over 200,000 copies and being certified Silver, while the club mixes went on to chart Top 5 on International dance charts including Billboard Dance and ARIA, and featured on soundtracks for pivotal television and motion pictures including Queer As Folk (USA) and Akeelah and the Bee.

Heather has since had great successes with two solo albums – the title track of her ‘Proud’ album has gone on to become the soundtrack to a whole host of very special events including London’s successful 2012 Olympic bid, the 60th anniversary of VE Day in Trafalgar Square, the launch of Queen Mary 2, the Tsunami Relief Concert, England’s victory at the Rugby World Cup celebrations, and the official ceremony marking the handover of the Olympic Games from Beijing to London.

And when Oprah Winfrey was looking for a song to sum up the work she’d been striving to achieve over her twenty-year career, she got in touch with Heather, who somehow managed to squeeze in a trip across the Atlantic to perform on the show right in the middle of her last UK tour with M People (‘If Oprah calls, you go!’ she laughs, adding that the first lady of chat was ‘very sweet to me’).

As “Proud” approaches it’s 20th Anniversary, Swishcraft Music could not be more excited to release an entirely new production of “Proud” by Heather Small feat. Dirty Disco & Matt Consola in time for the world to celebrate World Pride NYC (2019) and Stonewall 50. With a new radio/pop version produced by American production team The Rip City Boys (Matt Consola & Aaron Altemose), eight additional club mixes will also be released remixed by Dirty Disco, Division 4 & Matt Consola, Joe Gauthreaux & Leanh, Testone, Lee Harris, Wayne G & Porl Young, Michel Mizrahi, and the Rip City Boy’s (Matt Consola & Aaron Altemose).

Swishcraft Music would like to take a moment to thank some special people who helped make this project happen. Amanda Price and Jenni Price of the Portland-based band THE AM (Acoustic Minds) for their exceptional backing and choir vocals. Hal Gerard-Filiar and Don Filiar-Aguilera for their rhythmic assistance for the choir. Simon Harrison, Frank A Ceraolo, Harry Towers, Rafael Mesa, Peter Barona, Eric Jenkins, and all of the DJ’s, promoters, record pools, radio, and dance music fans who have supported Swishcraft Music over these last 9 years. That makes us feel Proud! XX ❤️❤️❤️

Update: As of World Pride Day, Sunday, June 30th, “PROUD” The Club Remixes were #17 with a bullet on the American Billboard Dance Charts.
